Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month with Trips to These Milwaukee Eats

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the history and contributions of AAPI in the United States and learn about the diverse culture and heritage of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. In celebration, Milwaukee hosted its first ever Asian Restaurant Week from May 16-22, encouraging diners to support the area’s diverse Asian and Pacific Island cuisines. The group behind the event is ElevAsian, a group of AAPI individuals and allies from around Wisconsin dedicated to amplifying, and celebrating AAPI people, businesses and initiatives that uplift and support the community. “Food is a great entry point for learning more about a culture, and it’s also the way members of the AAPI share their care for others as well as a piece of their cultural heritage,” notes Shary Tran of ElevAsian.
